Located in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area, Spirit of Stone has been in the stone business for more than 10 years. Our stone furniture is made out of the finest and most exotic stone from all over the world-- from Italy to Morocco to China-- and crafted by state of the art technology and artisans who understand how to bring its natural beauty out from the stone. Where Stone Comes From

Millions of years ago, when the earth was new, it was a much more turbulent place. Extreme seismic activity shaped the world-- it carved valleys in the earth's face, tectonic plates crashed into each other to form mountains, and cooling magma burned and fused the earth together. Guided by chaos, soft sediments from the earth such as soil and sand would collect in primeval seas and lakes, layering on top of each other like sheets of paper. Immeasurable forces over infinite eons of time then compressed the sediment, lithifying and solidifying the sediments, etching the patterns in the strata for all of history.

This story is a testament to the longevity of stone. Ancient craftsmen such as the Romans and the Egyptians knew and appreciated its beauty and sheen. They constructed their great monuments from it, making man made wonders from the wonders created by natural history; those monuments have gone down in history as they have withstood the test of time over the ages.
